1. Ускоренное охлаждение горячекатаного металла струями воды. Широко используется на широкополосных станах для охлаждения полос на отводящем рольганге (сверху – с помошью ламинарной системы низкого давления и снизу – струями высокого давления) с целью достижения требуемой температуры смотки, а также для охлаждения смотанных в рулон полос с целью регулирования уровня механических свойств, сокращения времени охлаждения и снижения обезуглероживания.
2. Охлаждение заготовки при непрерывной разливке стали (в зоне вторичного охлаждения) водой, разбрызгиваемой через специальные форсунки.
